Mormon Insights Articles I wrote four short piece (approximately 500 words) that have been or will be published on the Mormon Insights website. Mormon Insights is an online publication that discusses LDS topics. Since the audience is young adults worldwide, the tone of the article was meant to be professional, conversational, informative, engaging, and inclusive.
Low VA Rates Blog Post—"The Army Dress Uniform" During my internship for Low VA Rates, a Lindon, Utah-based home loan company that works with veterans, I wrote five articles for their company blog. Since the purpose of the articles is to generate more interest in Low VA Rates, I was instructed to write this article in a professional yet conversational manner. The target audience is veterans and current military members. The article is published both on their blog and their social media page.
Seminar Paper--“What Happened to Atticus Finch?": The Argument Between Art and the Artist in the Context of Go Set a Watchman” I was instructed to write a conference-length (3000-5000 words) seminar paper on a topic of my choice that I could present at a conference. I was required to include at least six well-chosen critical sources. I later presented this piece at the BYU English Symposium, an annual conference run by the BYU English department.
Style Manual—"Style Guide for Company X" The following is a style guide I created for a nonprofit organization (NPO). I was required to outline the company's standards for writing that differ from The Chicago Manual of Style: 16th Edition. The purpose of the style guide is to ensure that all of the NPO's documents conform to a uniform style. The audience of the document is the members of the organization who write blog posts and research papers for the NPO. In order to protect the organization's privacy, I have replaced the NPO's name with Company X. The selection below includes the introduction and one of the six sections of the style guides.
